What is CBD Tea?
CBD tea is a combination of tea and cannabidiol (CBD) which is one of the many compounds found in the cannabis plant. Hippi Teas are made from a broad spectrum CBD derived from organically grown hemp and are manufactured in the USA. But you can’t just combine CBD and water, because regular CBD oils are not water-soluble (water and oil don’t mix). In order to make CBD teas that work, we utilize a nano-emulsified CBD which is colorless and tasteless in your tea. Nano-emulsified CBD is also absorbed into your body better and faster than CBD oil from a tincture, gummy, or pill.
What is Cannabidiol (CBD)?
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound in the Cannabid sativa plant, also known as marijuana or hemp, according to the US National Library of Medicine. Over 80 chemicals, known as cannabinoids, have been identified in the Cannabis sativa plant. Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the most active ingredient in marijuana. Our CBD is obtained from organically grown hemp and is processed so there is no THC.
Is CBD Tea Safe?
The earliest recorded use of CBD dates back to 2000 – 1400 BC by William Osler, a proponent of the medicinal use of cannabis. He believed the plant was an effective treatment for migraines. According to the NIH, “cannabidiol in doses of up to 300 mg daily have been taken by mouth safely for up to 6 months. Higher doses of 1200-1500 mg daily have been taken by mouth safely for up to 4 weeks. A prescription cannabidiol product (Epidiolex) is approved to be taken by mouth in doses of up to 10-20 mg/kg daily.”
How Much CBD Tea Should I Drink?
If you haven’t used CBD products, the general recommendation is to start low and slow. The water soluble CBD in each cup of our teas is the equivalent of taking about 25mg of CBD from a tincture. Therefore, we recommend starting with one cup a day. If you like it and want more, try a cup in the morning and one at night. If you are a CBD user, check out our dosage calculator and enter your typical dosage to see how much water-soluble CBD would be the same.
When Should I Drink CBD Tea?
Whenever you want! CBD tea is a great way to start your day. We recommend our Daydreamer Black Tea for the mornings. The combination of CBD and caffeine create what we like to call a “calm focus.” At night, try a relaxing caffeine-free CBD tea like our Mellow herbal blend.
Will CBD Tea Get Me High?
No. CBD is a naturally occurring substance that’s used in products like oils and edibles to impart a feeling of relaxation and calm. Unlike its cousin, THC, which is found in marijuana, CBD is not psychoactive and will not get you “high.” Some manufacturers use a full-spectrum CBD, which contain trace amounts of THC, however, our products do not contain any THC.
What is the Difference Between Broad-spectrum and Full-spectrum CBD?
Full-spectrum CBD includes up to .3% of THC. Broad-spectrum doesn’t contain any THC. Both full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD are legal. However, using a product with trace amounts of THC could potentially cause issues with drug testing. Most standard drug tests will look for chemicals related to THC, so THC or marijuana use might show up on a screening. Our teas use a broad-spectrum CBD (no THC) and every batch is tested to ensure quality and consistency.
What is CBD Used For?
CBD tea is an easy way to take CBD, without the unpleasantness of oils. CBD affects your endocannabinoid system (ECS) which has been shown to play a role in regulating a range of functions including sleep, mood, appetite, memory, and reproduction/fertility.
How Long Do the Effects of CBD Tea Last?
CBD effects vary based on the person. On average the effects of CBD tend to last anywhere between 2-6 hours, but this depends on a variety of factors. People who exercise regularly, metabolize fat faster and have a lower density of fat cells may find that the effects of CBD wear off more quickly. In addition, the frequency of usage and dosage amounts can impact the effectiveness of CBD. Similar to supplements, CBD will have heightened benefits if you continue to use it on a longer-term basis.
What is the Difference Between CBD and THC?
CBD and THC are both natural compounds found in varieties of the cannabis plant. THC provides the psychoactive “high” effects and CBD does not. In order for CBD to be legal in the US, it can have no more than .3% THC. Both CBD and THC are chemically similar to your body’s own endocannabinoids. This allows them to interact with your cannabinoid receptors.
Can I Take CBD Tea on an Airplane?
Yes. We understand that flying can be a stressful experience and many people want to bring their CBD along. Our teas are individually packaged to make them easy to carry on a plane. While flying with marijuana and certain cannabis infused products remains illegal, TSA guidelines state that products with no more than .3% THC are an exception and can be taken on a plane. So, fly the friendly skies!
